School Leadership

Tracey Corder, GES Principal
My name is Tracey Corder, and I have 17 years experience in education spanning across grade levels Pre-K through 5th. After many years in the classroom I decided to follow my passion and pursued my M.A. as a Reading Specialist. This allotted me the opportunity to begin my journey as a Learning Leader at Griffith Elementary.
In my time as a Learning Leader at Sequatchie County, I was able to serve along grade level teams, offer intervention to students, and serve alongside the district RTI team. I most recently joined an Instructional Leadership cohort through UTC and gained my certification as an Instructional Leadership Administrator.
After serving as Assistant Principal at Griffith Elementary, it is a great honor to continue my journey as Principal. Griffith Elementary is great because of the people that work and serve there. Together we will continue to lead and serve our students and families, while leveraging every opportunity to expand, grow, and learn.
I am passionate about leveraging data to drive innovation, seeking family inclusion, and creating an environment for all learners to excel.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, gardening, and all things outside. My husband and I of 28 years live in the beautiful Sequatchie Valley. We have three beautiful daughters with the most precious grandchildren around. I am excited to continue this journey to serve families and students. The best is yet to come!
Kate Armstrong, Assistant Principal
Hello! My name is Kate Armstrong, and I am both honored and excited to serve as the new Assistant Principal at Griffith Elementary School.
As a proud graduate of Sequatchie County High School, it is a privilege to return home and contribute to the community that shaped me.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and began my teaching career in Athens, Alabama, in 2008. There, I taught first and third grades before transitioning into the role of Instructional Partner. During that time, I earned a master’s degree in Elementary Education from West Alabama and National Board Certification in Early to Middle Childhood Literacy.
In 2021, I moved back to Dunlap and have since served as a Learning Leader while pursuing and completing my Instructional Leadership degree from Austin Peay. I am passionate about student achievement and believe in using data-driven practices and collaboration to support both students and teachers in reaching their highest potential.
I am married to BJ Armstrong, a fellow Sequatchie County Schools employee, and we are proud parents of two wonderful children, Holden and Addie Grace.
I look forward to partnering with our students, families, and staff to make this a successful and inspiring school year.
